The whirling dervishes have enchanted onlookers for centuries, and few experiences in Türkiye are as distinctive or deeply rooted in tradition as witnessing an authentic Mevlevi Sema ceremony.

The Mevlevi order was established in Konya in 1273, following the death of the 13th-century Sufi mystic and poet Mevlâna Jalaluddin Rumi. UNESCO recognised its cultural significance in 2005, and the Mevlevi Sema Ceremony was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2008.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site has a phenomenal history stretching back thousands of years, through the Hellenistic, Roman and early Christian periods. Tee Off at One Of Türkiye’s Leading Golf Courses

Golf may not be the first activity that comes to mind when planning a superyacht itinerary in Türkiye. Still, for any keen players on board, there are some excellent opportunities to fit a round in and time ashore into the cruising plan.

The Hilton Dalaman Golf Club, opened in August 2026, brings an 18-hole championship course to the Dalaman coast for the first time. Managed by Hilton Dalaman Sarıgerme Resort, this par-72 course was designed by Andrew Craven of International Design Group and runs through a varied landscape of dunes, pine forest, wetlands, and lakes. Its location makes it particularly interesting for yachts on a Gocek yachting itinerary, as the course is around a 20-minute transfer from the marinas and within easy reach of Dalaman International Airport. This convenience makes it ideal for owners and guests who want a few hours on the fairway before returning to the yacht.

Belek, on the Antalya coast, is another option and Türkiye’s premier golf destination, with championship courses, luxury resorts and a climate that allows play through much of the year. This region hosts many major international tournaments and continues to attract both professional and amateur events each year. Explore Cappadocia’s Moonscape Valley by Foot, Hot Air Balloon or Horseback

Leave the yacht behind for the day or two and travel inland to Cappadocia, a Central Anatolia region that feels a world away from the coast.

Cappadocia is unique, and famed for its sculpted valleys, distinctive fairy chimneys, rock-cut churches and underground settlements. Göreme National Park and the Rock Sites of Cappadocia have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1985, with the protected area including Göreme as well as the underground cities of Kaymaklı and Derinkuyu. Here, the natural landscape feels more like that of a sci-fi movie set, with spectacular cave homes, five-star hotels cut deep into the rock, phenomenal food and culture – all topped with a sky full of hot air balloons dancing in the sky above.

For many guests, a hot-air balloon flight over Cappadocia is the best way to see the area. Taking off before sunrise, weather permitting, the flight offers an unbeatable perspective of the valleys and rock formations below. But a trip to Cappadocia deserves more time than simply a balloon flight and a return to the coast. Take To The Sky and Tandem Paraglide over Oludeniz

Get your heart racing and view the yacht and the blues of Türkiye’s famous blue lagoon from above by tandem paragliding over Oludeniz. The excursion takes around an hour and starts with a 16-minute cable car trip up to the summit of Mount Babadag. After a short briefing, you are securely strapped into a harness and attached to your fully trained pilot before running a few steps down a paved slope to be airborne.

Oludeniz is one of the world’s most popular paragliding and air sports destinations. The bay also hosts the International Oludeniz Air Games each October, which features the death-defying antics of Red Bull acro pilots and other extreme air sports enthusiasts. The Lycian Way Oludeniz

Take a Guided Walk Along The Lycian Way

For guests who like to explore on foot, don the walking boots and reconnect with nature on a privately guided tour of the Lycian Way, Türkiye’s longest and most famous coastal hiking trail. THE LYCIAN WAY is widely considered one of the most beautiful walking trails in the world – and you don’t need to walk all 500-plus kilometres to experience it.

Beginning around Fethiye and Ölüdeniz and continuing east towards Antalya, the Lycian Way was Türkiye’s first long-distance walking route. The waymarked trail follows a mixture of old paths and ancient routes through mountains, forests and coastal settlements, passing archaeological sites and some of the Mediterranean coast’s most dramatic scenery. The entire way, which varies from easy-going to moderate and challenging in places, takes around 29 days to complete. Still, short sections can easily be walked in just a few hours and afford magnificent views over the Mediterranean.

For superyacht guests on an itinerary around Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Kalkan or Kaş, the attraction is that a section of the Lycian Way can be enjoyed as a guided morning walk. The western sections around Fethiye and Ölüdeniz are among the route’s most popular, while further east the trail passes areas including Patara, Kaş, Kekova, Olympos and Çıralı.

Spring and autumn generally offer the best walking conditions; Türkiye’s official tourism information highlights February to May and September to November for the longer route. For summer yacht itineraries in Turkiye, we’d recommend choosing the route and timing carefully, favouring shorter walks and cooler parts of the day rather than committing guests to a demanding trek in the midday heat.

Türkiye is not well known for its wine, but legend suggests it is one of the world’s oldest wine countries. It is even said that when Noah’s Ark ran aground on Mount Ararat, Noah planted the very first vines after the big flood. Unfortunately, there is no evidence to support this, but there is evidence to suggest Türkiye has produced wine for more than 7,000 years.
