BEAUTIFUL BAYS

True to its name, the Turquoise Coast stretches from Cesme to Antalya and serves up clear, Insta-perfect blues. These calm waters home an abundance of fabulous snorkel and swim spots, with loggerhead turtles, octopi, eels and a wide variety of fish often spotted in the depths.

The superyacht cruising season in Türkiye generally runs from spring into autumn. May, June, September and early October are particularly rewarding, with warm weather, good cruising conditions and a little more breathing room in the most popular bays and coastal towns.

July and August bring the height of the Mediterranean summer – hotter days, warmer seas and a much livelier atmosphere ashore. Berths in Turkiye and the best-known restaurants and beach clubs are also in greater demand, so advance planning matters more.

There isn’t one perfect month. Much depends on whether guests want busy summer destinations, long lunches ashore, watersports and nightlife, or quieter anchorages and time to explore.

Cruising conditions in Türkiye vary between the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, which is one reason local knowledge and reliable yacht support in Turkiye goes a long way when putting together a reliable cruising itinerary.

Summer Meltemi winds can affect parts of the Aegean, while the deeply indented coastline further south provides numerous bays and more sheltered cruising areas, but depth in some places should be considered for larger yachts. Conditions can also vary from one stretch of coast to another.

The best superyacht itinerary in Turkiye should therefore leave some room to move. Captains can adjust passages and overnight stops around the forecast, especially earlier and later in the season, rather than forcing the yacht to follow a rigid day-by-day schedule. CONTACT US for advice. 

Turkiye is a rich, diverse country with a varied coastline, so you have plenty of choice. Bodrum, the Gulf of Gökova, Datça, Marmaris, Göcek, and Fethiye can be combined into an outstanding superyacht itinerary in Turkiye, with the route broken up by anchorages, islands, ancient sites, and exceptional places to step ashore, relax and eat.

Further west are Yalıkavak, Bodrum and the Aegean coast; continue east from Fethiye and the coastline leads towards Kaş and Antalya.

We wouldn’t recommend trying to tick off every popular destination simply because it fits on the chart. Often the best itineraries include fewer miles and more time in the places guests will genuinely enjoy. This is why we like to arrange and tailor itineraries individually, around the yacht’s needs and the captain’s and guests’ preferences.

You can cruise from Bodrum to Göcek relatively quickly – but we wouldn’t.

With a week or more available, the passage becomes an itinerary in its own right. The Bodrum Peninsula, the Gulf of Gökova, the Datça Peninsula, and the Marmaris coastline all lie between the two, with plenty of reasons to drop anchor, go ashore, or simply stay another night.

The yacht’s cruising speed is only part of the calculation. Guest plans, resort and restaurant reservations, watersports, excursions and how much time everyone wants to spend at anchor usually determine the pace.

This is one part of the job where being local really counts. We know the headline destinations, but we also know the bays worth slowing down for, where to go ashore for lunch, what can realistically fit into a day, and when a seemingly good idea on a map doesn’t make much sense in practice.

Yes, of course – and there are plenty to choose from. The Gulf of Gökova, Datça Peninsula, Marmaris, and Göcek cruising areas are particularly good grounds for super, mega, and gigayachts, with beautiful anchorages tucked away from the larger resorts and busy marinas.

Size matters, though. Depth, holding, weather, local environmental restrictions and the yacht’s operational requirements can make a bay that works beautifully for one vessel unsuitable for another.

Türkiye changes enormously from one stop to the next. The opportunities to explore are endless. One day could mean a long lunch in Bodrum; another visiting an ancient site. The next could include a luxury spa or a round of golf, and the evening could include a dinner reservation at an acclaimed or MICHELIN-starred restaurant.

Especially in July and August, it pays to book the important reservations early, especially if guests want a private tour or trip. Let us know your ideas, and we will work our magic and come up with options to suit.
