Yalıkavak: Türkiye’s Leading Superyacht Destination

Yalıkavak has come a long way from its days as a small fishing and sponge-diving village. Traditional stone windmills still stand on the surrounding hills and reminders of the old town remain, but the luxury motor yachts arriving today tell a very different story.

The development of Yalıkavak Marina has put this corner of the Bodrum Peninsula firmly on the international yachting map. Some of the world’s most impressive super and megayachts now arrange berths in Yalıkavak each season, as guests are within easy walking distance of global designer boutiques, highly acclaimed restaurants, first-class spa and wellness facilities and a lively waterfront that reaches its peak during the sun-drenched summer months.

Yet the marina is only part of Yalıkavak’s appeal.

Bodrum Superyacht Guide

Head beyond Yalıkavak Marina and the pace changes. Here you find local markets, fish restaurants, small bays and villages that offer a far more relaxed side to the destination, while Gümüşlük, Gündoğan, and Türkbükü are all within easy reach. Then there’s Bodrum town, which offers another opportunity to soak up history, shopping, dining, and nightlife.

For captains, Yalıkavak is not just another stop on the Turkish superyacht itinerary that the guests will enjoy – arranging a berth at Yalıkavak Marina makes practical sense. You find excellent superyacht support in Yalıkavak; access to and from Milas-Bodrum Airport can easily be arranged; comprehensive yacht technical support in Yalıkavak is at hand, making it a useful strategic base for guest changeovers, yacht provisioning and operational requirements before continuing along the Turkish coast.

This mix of convenience, premium superyacht services in Yalıkavak, and high-end leisure facilities makes a stop worthwhile, providing the infrastructure a yacht needs with enough variety ashore to keep everyone on board occupied for several days.

Yalikavak Bodrum

Yalikavak Highlights

Although Yalıkavak is best known for its marina, let’s first take a look at the wider area’s highlights.

As we covered in our Bodrum Superyacht Guide, the peninsula has a lot to offer yachts. Within a short cruise, there are quiet bays, traditional fishing villages, celebrated seafood restaurants, high-end beach clubs and some of Türkiye’s most exclusive resorts.

Spend time discovering Old Yalıkavak, head to Gümüşlük for seafood and sunset, or follow the coast towards Gündoğan and Türkbükü. Each destination offers something different, so here are a few places to consider adding to your Yalıkavak yacht itinerary.

Old Yalıkavak

Found Just Beyond the Superyacht Hub

Just a short walk from the superyacht marina and you’ll find traces of the Yalıkavak that existed way before the luxury yachts and designer boutiques arrived. The area was once a small fishing and sponge-diving community, and in Old Yalıkavak you can still find a distinctly local feel, with traditional restaurants, neighbourhood streets, and old stone buildings that contrast with the polished waterfront.

For a more intriguing glimpse into the area’s past, head around 3km into the hills above Yalıkavak to Sandıma Village. This historic settlement was gradually abandoned as its residents moved closer to the coast, leaving behind atmospheric stone houses, narrow paths and ruins scattered across the hillside. The elevated position also opens up impressive views towards Yalıkavak and the Aegean.

Back in the old town, the weekly market is also worth exploring, particularly for yacht chefs seeking additional yacht provisioning and seasonal menu inspiration. Here you can find locally grown fruit, vegetables, herbs, cheeses and produce. Look towards the surrounding hills, and you’ll also spot Yalıkavak’s old stone windmills – another reminder of the original farming communities that helped shape the landscape before tourism arrived.

Yalikavak Küdür Bay & Beach

Natural & Historically Interesting

Just beyond central Yalıkavak’s designer stores and marina, Küdür Bay reveals a different side of the coastline. Its protected shores and clear Aegean waters provide a striking contrast, despite being only a short distance away.

The area is also historically important. Archaeological ruins point to ancient settlements in the area, while old stone structures offer glimpses of the communities that once occupied the coast. Its comparatively undeveloped landscape makes Küdür particularly interesting for guests keen to see another side of Yalıkavak.

Küdür is also home to some lovely swimming spots, including Blue Flag beaches, while Xuma Beach is a long-established favourite for guests, with a beach club offering dining, drinks and music by the water. Whether explored ashore or appreciated from the sea, Küdür is a reminder of how quickly the landscape changes when you leave modern Yalıkavak and Yalıkavak Marina behind.

Bodrum Town

Culture, History & A Change of Scene

Bodrum Town offers a change of pace. Its whitewashed streets lead to a lively waterfront dominated by Bodrum Castle, home to the fascinating Museum of Underwater Archaeology.

Beyond the history, Bodrum town is also excellent for shopping, dining or enjoying an evening ashore. Explore the lanes around the old town, browse local boutiques and galleries, stop for cocktails, or our Bodrum concierge team can organise dinner and a great evening out.

Bodrum is also home to the 360° Yachting Bodrum office at Milta Marina, providing Bodrum yacht agency services, yacht provisioning, technical support, logistics and superyacht support in Yalıkavak and across the Bodrum Peninsula.

There’s far more to discover than we can cover here, so take a look at our Bodrum Superyacht Guide for full details and our Türkiye Yachting Blog for tips on where to go and what to do in Bodrum and along the Turkish Riviera.

Turkbuku Bodrum

Göltürkbükü (Türkbükü)

Fine Dining, Wellness & Sophisticated Resorts

Türkbükü is one of the Bodrum Peninsula’s most fashionable destinations. Often compared with Saint-Tropez, it attracts yacht owners, celebrities, and Istanbul’s elite for its luxury resorts, superb restaurants, high-end spas and beach clubs.

Days in Türkbükü tend to revolve around the water. Rather than conventional beaches, much of Türkbükü’s social scene plays out on wooden decks and jetties, where guests can swim, settle in for a long lunch and stay as the tempo rises from late afternoon well into the early hours.

Some of the Bodrum peninsula’s best hotels and venues are found around Türkbükü, including Maçakızı, a Bodrum institution and guest known for its waterfront setting, MICHELIN-star restaurant and beach club.

For guests who enjoy good food, people-watching and a lively but polished day ashore, Türkbükü is a great addition to the Türkiye yacht itinerary and very different from Yalıkavak.

Yalikavak Yacht Guide

Gümüşlük

Ancient Myndos, Sunset Tables & A Slower Pace

Gümüşlük is one of the Bodrum Peninsula’s most atmospheric coastal villages and an easy addition to a Yalıkavak yacht itinerary. Built around the ancient city of Myndos, archaeological remains can still be seen around the bay and beneath its shallow waters, adding another layer to an already beautiful setting.

Today, Gümüşlük is best known for its waterfront fish restaurants. Tables sit close to the water, fresh seafood and Turkish meze dominate the menus, and evenings unfold at a noticeably slower pace than in Yalıkavak Marina.

Time your visit for late afternoon. Browse the small artisan shops, settle in for sunset and stay for dinner overlooking the Aegean. For guests wanting something low-key, local and relaxed,  Gümüşlük is a great location.

Bodrum Yalikavak Marina 1

Yalıkavak Marina: The Heart of Türkiye’s Superyacht Scene

In the centre of Yalıkavak is Yalıkavak Marina, a facility that’s played a key role in establishing Bodrum and Turkiye on the international mega yacht map.

The marina has capacity for 620 yachts and can accommodate luxury motor yachts, superyachts and megayachts up to 140 metres LOA, making it an excellent option for large yachts cruising the Turkish Aegean. Its 5 Gold Anchor Platinum accreditation and multiple international marina awards reflect the quality of the marina’s facilities.

Yalikavak Marina’s location is another advantage. Milas-Bodrum Airport is within convenient transfer distance, Bodrum town and the peninsula’s leading resorts are all within easy cruising distance, and captains on longer Turkish yachting itineraries can continue towards Gümüşlük, the Gulf of Gökova and Datça, Marmaris, Gocek or further afield.

Other key advantages of arranging a berth at Yalikavak Marina are the on-site facilities. Here you find all the technical and yacht support and assistance you need, alongside excellent restaurants, designer shopping, wellness facilities, hotels, and bespoke services for owners, guests and crew – making it a practical base for anything from an overnight call to a longer stay.
