Bodrum’s association with sailors and the sea began long before the first superyacht or blue cruiser entered its harbour. Centuries later, the Knights of St John built Bodrum Castle using stone from the ruined mausoleum. But sail around the headland and another Bodrum appears, one where windmills,  pretty stone villages, small waterfront cafes, pine-backed bays and stretches of unspoilt coast feel a world away from the mayhem of the summer crowds.

Although Yalikavak Marina and Bodrum Milta Marina are the most popular stops for superyachts in the region, D-Marin Turgutreis does provide another well-equipped option.
