Dalyan is best known as the location of the ancient trading city of Kaunos, and also due to the magnificent weathered facades of its Lycian rock tombs carved high in the hillside above its central river.

Dalyan has become a popular day-trip destination and also a charming place to explore late afternoon and evening when the bulk of the tourists have been bussed home. Due to strict environmental protection laws, yacht tenders are not allowed inside the river, however, private licensed boat transfers can easily be arranged from your tender or anchorage in a nearby bay. Ask 360 Yachting for assistance.

Iztuzu beach is also located in Dalyan. The beach is well known as a breeding ground for endangered loggerhead turtles, known locally as “Caretta, Caretta”. Due to this, the beach is a wide, long and unspoiled stretch of sand during the day, and closed between 20.00 and 8:00 hours during their laying and hatching season.

Dalyan’s mud baths are also a popular excursion and some say that Cleopatra herself would make the occasional trip to the region just to bask in the healing qualities of the mineral mud. The baths have been a magnet for the rich and famous for many years, recently celebrities have also been photographed enjoying their time in the baths, albeit in a muddy state!
