There is a bay local to Fethiye and Gocek that boasts a fabulous history. “Hamam Bay”, otherwise known as “Ruin Bay” or “Cleopatra Bay”, is located to the South West of Monastir Bay. Local legend would suggest that it was once visited, or maybe even gifted, to Queen Cleopatra during her honeymoon to Mark Antony. Here guests can bask in the calcium-rich mineral waters said to soothe aches and pains, or snorkel the clear waters around the ruins of a semi-submerged Greek monastery. Although popular with day-trippers, time it right and you can enjoy the bay to yourself and swim at leisure — maybe even swim ashore to a small beach with sand said to have been shipped from Egypt.
